The Dr John Plowman Collection
6th January 2025
Dr John Marks Plowman grew up in North Finchley where he attended Finchley Grammer School. He was a keen gardener and later he joined the British Army where he rose to the rank of Captain. After leaving the Army he studied Engineering at Kings College London where he met his future wife, Hazel. They were married for 57 years until Hazel sadly passed away in 2014. John was the editor of the Horological Society from 1978 to 1986 and was an active member of The British Legion in Bourton-on-the-Water where John and Hazel made their final home.

I have known John for over 20 years, and he has become more of a friend than just a customer. John has a unique and humorous outlook on life, and it is always a pleasure and uplifting to be in his company. John has just reached his 100th birthday! His Horological knowledge and passion have definitely enabled him to unearth many sleepers at Auction over the years and we are very honoured to sell his entire collection in our Specialist Horological Auction on the 27th February 2025
